Big Brother finalist Ben McCallum says he and his fellow housemates are to blame for the reality TV show's demise after eight years.
The 19-year-old law student from Perth, who became one of the final three, says he feels guilty because the housemates were not entertaining enough.
"I see it as a negative reflection on the housemates that fuelled the house and the content on the whole," McCallum told AAP."I think it kind of sucks, and I sort of feel... click HERE to read on.

Yes the housemates were boring
but surely that is the fault of
the producers - getting it wrong
yet again. If they had had more
variation on age and nationalities
I believe Terri would not have won.
When Terri was announced as the
winner, I felt quite manipulated
by BB - even though for part of the
time I wanted Terri to win.
I thought the whole finale voting
was odd. How could Rory (who I
would have liked to win) go from
being 40% (making him a cinch to
be evicted) to coming a close
second to Terri??? I was confused.
I feel that Big brother manipulated who won by showing who was most likely to be evicted 20 minutes or so before the lines were closed. At that time Ben was looking like he would win, this triggered fans of Terry and Rory to vote because they feared their favourite wouldnt win.
I believe they did that purely to get more votes (i.e. more money) and also to ensure Terry would win. If they hadnt of shown the percentages for eviction votes I dont believe Ben would have been evicted first.
Does anyone else share this view?
I feel really ripped off by this series. Terry did not deserve to win, and the whole show was a let down. I love big brother, and Im hoping that when it is revived that the original excitement and creativity of the show will be felt again.
Ben's at least partly right.
How many times have HM's promised the world on their audition video and did the exact opposite when they got in there?
It's BB, not a 5 star holiday resort. But this year, BB didn't really challenge them at all. No wonder Ben nearly called in the UN after the fake double eviction. They didn't even have a sleep deprivation task!
Not to mention the constant interruptions and contact with the outside world, BB's refusing to discipline his HM's, the obvious host favouritism, the obvious favouritism by BB, FNL ..... do I need to go on?
I thought this season was great - there was heaps of bickering and tension, the grenades adding to this. The kombi and lack of rewards room on a friday night was also terrific. The challenges were great too, Olly the dog, waiting for the train, hair salon etc. Most of the housemates delivered this year - not so many fence sitters and a lot of true colours shining through.
It certinaly appeared that Big brother was not keen to see Ben win. I think Ben being out in front was a direct result of them showing the graph in the first place, that got the Terri fans voting for Rory since he was ahead of her. They just forgot about Ben (not so hard to do) leaving him out infront. When BB realised what had happened they new they had to go back on their earlier commitment not to show the graph to correct thier miscalculation.
If I didn't know this before, I definitely do now - Ben is waaaaaaaay too hard on himself.
Housemates could be partly to fault for this season, but in all honesty, like I said in an earlier posting, the show jumped the shark several seasons ago (methinks around the time of the turkey slapping incident) and it was fast becoming a tired format, so no matter how many interesting people you threw into that house this year (and to be honest, I thought there was a fairly good mix this year, aside from your usual Zoo magazine wannabes [only 1 expressed such aspirations in the first place] and young supposedly "hunky" men who just aren't), it was always going to be do or die for BB. Maybe not airing it for a couple of years and having a rival network change up the format may help, but we viewers will only know once that happens (and if that happens).
I have a totally different take on Ben looking like he was winning. If the voting was *to save* like last year, Ben would have been a sorry last. Problem was BB wanted to make as much money as they could (last hurrah etc) so they made the final vote to evict.
Of course Terri and Rory were each others biggest threats, so therefore Terri fans would target Rory and Rory fans would target Terri. Then the under the radar housemate would slip thru (Ben).
So, yeah, they had to show the public the error of their ways.
In the end, the right person out of the final three won. Altho, I don't think there was any *right* person all series this time.
Perhaps, Alice had she not been painted as being selfish for the last week. She was the most honest all series. Never my favourite though.
Anyway, it's over now and no matter how much people say it's rigged, it isn't fair etc...when it's all said and done, Terri won and good luck to her.
Ennovy.
"How many times have HM's promised the world on their audition video and did the exact opposite when they got in there?"
True, but I think in some cases it'd do the show more harm than good for housemates to try to "follow through" on their promises. You would hope that the "promises" they make when they go into the house are things that really are part of their personality, and therefore, things that will come out anyway-provided they are given the right conditions. I think Big Brother does quite a poor job of picking out these people correctly, but that's more the producers fault than theirs. I don't want to tune in to see 12 people purposely trying to act "fun" and "crazy". I want to see a cooped up idiot scream at someone for "smirking" at them.
The main problem seems to be that the housemates are too clued up on how things will get portrayed to allow themselves to let their guards down enough. That's a fault of either the producers not choosing people who are open enough, or just the reality that the show is in it's 8th season and there are few surprises, not the housemates faults personally.
I blame the producers and whoever had the dumb idea of hiring Kyle/Jackie O as hosts. And let's not even mention Rebecca Wilson again - Tim, I don't know how you could even stand to sit on the same panel with that horrible woman on BIG MOUTH!
Ben seemed like a nice bloke!
The whole thing from the start was designed for Terri to win the money, it wouldn't have mattered how entertaining Ben was.
BB08 producers are all stupid.
To put only 1 over 50 year old in the house was going to, of course, effect voting and who would win.
Do they think that only 18 to 25 year olds watch BB? WRONG!!!
18 to 25 year olds are out-on-the town or studing or working, they don't bother with a dumb TV show.
My 8 neices and nephews all in their late teens, early twenties, assured me they wouldn't be seen dead watching BB! And none of their mates, either. So it was obvious, Terri would stay for the long haul and in the end, win.
^ Erm, I don't know how your logic works because I'm 23, neither working nor studying (that'll change soon), nor do I go out often and I've watched the show since its started. I don't really care if people want to bag me out about it, people will always want to bag you out for something, but luckily I haven't entered into such a conversation about BB with anyone for years....yet I voted for Terri to win cos the 2 Gen Y males left in the house with her did nothing to gain my vote. I don't know whether that's because I'm not your average/stereotypical 23 year old or what, but surely its something different right?
There's always an exception to every rule, Shell! It's funny that some people who say they don't like the show still watch and can tell you everything that is going on!
Sometimes it is easy to tell people who have never watched an episode because they are always telling us fans that there is a lot of sex in BB. Where? I don't see much sex going on at all!
Poor Shell, not to be working, or going out and or studying at your age, gosh, is such a shame. But you have youth on your side, and the young of these times are the only ones who matter.
Funny, I watched all the BB's, all 8 of them and I think I didn't see any sex either, no I'm sure I didn't see any sexual activity and self-sex.
